association. registered nurses at 8 hospitals operated by sutter hospitals and two san jose hospitals, hospital corporation of america, will go on strike at 7:00 a.m. they are upset about staffing, sick leave and other issues. the strike at sutter hospitals is planned for two days. the strike at the san jose hospital set for one day. the hospitals have hired replacements on a 5 day contract. officials say because of the contracts the striking nurses will not be allowed to return to work till sunday. >>> in a game that was supposed to feature two of the top ranked defenses in the nfl, the 49ers without alex smith, jumped all over the bears, winning 32-7. back up quarterback was terrific out dueling jason campbell. 243 yards, 2 touchdowns, while the 49ers rolled. coming up, gary will have highlights and more on the question, will he start next week over alex myth -- smith. >>> a 65-year-old woman kidnapped sexually assaulted, left by the road, the suspect only 14 and today we are getting our first look at him. still photos were allowed in court today. he made his first court appearance.

with police. one suspect was arrested, another still on the loose. cbs 5 reporter anne makovec is in san jose with the latest. >> reporter: the city is reeling from this crime, actually spanning several crime scenes. one of them behind me broken glass from the shootout with police in this intersection. the police officer who was shot is okay. but a gunman is still on the loose. >> our primary focus is getting the second guy in custody. >> reporter: after a chase by car and on foot this is how it ended for one of two men accused of shooting a police officer in san jose last night hiding in a neighborhood that spent two hours on lockdown. >> you know, it was crazy and it was scary. it was scary. >> reporter: police say the men went on an armed robbery spree yesterday hitting up businesses and people at gunpoint in all four of these locations. police are also looking into the possibility that the two were involved in a murder. >> very violent suspects. they were both armed with firearms. and we had a pretty good idea of what the vehicle looked like. >> reporter: police spotted it on highway 101

class there. >>> in the last hour we learned a boy who was shot this afternoon in san jose is expected to survive. the shooting happened after 3:00 p.m. this afternoon. police say the injured teen is 16-17 years old. people in the area tell ktvu he was shot twice. investigators say it may be gang related. at this point no arrests have been made. >>> san jose police released a sketch of two men accused of homicide and opening fire on two police officers. police arrested jonathan wilbanks of san jose friday night. they say he shot and killed a man during a carjacking. authorities identified the victim. the two men then committed three more armed robberies before shooting at an officer. the other suspect is still on the run. take a look at this. this is video from a surveillance camera. shows them inside a gas station. the they are offering a $20,000 reward for information in this case. >> police arrested five people in connection with a killing of a homeless man this weekend. these five people are accused of killing a 51-year-old at a camp site. the victim's name hasn't been released. in

roadwork until 11:00 this morning. westbound drive is looking good. >>> san jose police hope a reward will help entice the community to help them catch a second robber in a violent crime spree that killed an innocent bystander and injured an officer. kira klapper is at the san jose police department. >> reporter: good morning. the police officers association is offering a $10,000 reward, hoping someone can lead them to the accomplice of jonathan wilbanks together they went on a violent crime spree he's already under arrest, police are looking for his partner crime. they don't have a name or description both were said to be wearing ski masks. it began before 7:30 friday night when they robbed a little caesar's on story road, then a gas station, an hour after that a jack-in-the-box. police say the pair didn't hurt anyone until they reached the 7-eleven, where they shot and killed 22-year-old campbell resident in an attempted carjacking. police spotted the pair, the pair initiated a shootout with officers. one officer was grazed at the hip by a bullet before thened up catching wilbanks.

at sacred heart community center in san jose with some people in need getting some help. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, jon. the volunteers are finally starting to show up this morning and, boy, it is cold and wet out here. some of these folks have actually been waiting in line for up to 18 hours just to register for a chance at holiday food and toys. i spoke with one man this morning who told me he is still out of work, there are kids in the home and that's why he is here at sacred heart community service where about 200 people are in line. there are tents out here, some just under umbrellas and blankets. the poverty rate, i spoke with one gentleman and he said for the county it's 10.6%. they expect to distribute about 7,000 food boxes between thanksgiving and christmas. right now, though, they could use some help with cash or food. >> so we hope to have all the food in here by this coming friday. right now we have four turkeys in the freezer. so you do the math on that one. there's a lot of work to be able to do. >> reporter: registration this morning starts somewhe

-old from san jose will be eligible for the death penalty. it habit yet decided whether to seek putting him on death row. he is due in court tomorrow on a list of charges including murder, robbery and attempted murder of a police officer. he and a 26-year-old man robbed four businesses earlier this month and shot a campbell man as they were trying to car jack him. they shot and wounded a san jose police officer. the man who fired the shot is still at large. luckily the officer wasn't hurt and doesn't know if he wounded the suspected. investigators say he pulled over a tan 1996 honda. the car was later found nearby and turned out to be a stolen vehicle. >> it's a bizarre crime. two men pointing a gun. those men have been arrested now. both of oakland. they were taken into custody last night. cell phone video seen right here shows that when the incident started around 4:00 yesterday afternoon, the two men were driving erratically on high street in oakland. a couple in another car started recording them to report to police. the men noticed this and then tried to get the phone, but were unsucce

jose's fame miss turkey trot -- famous turkey trot. we are in san jose in the middle of everything and i'm looking over your shoulder, this is one of the biggest thanksgiving day races in the country. >> reporter: yeah, that's right, and the costume contest is about to get underway. you can see there's some great costumes. there's indiana jones, we have super mario brothers, a robot. and even pacman, and it's going to be a lot of fun, judging is about to start, but in the next 45 minutes, the first race will begin. now, this is video of last year's turkey trot. it's the second largest race of its kind on thanksgiving day. a majority are participating in the 5 and 10 k. organizers have extended the deadline until 8:00 a.m., and we started seeing a lot more people starting to show up, and getting warmed up to race. >> i feel it's cool, like it's intimidated, but the fact that there are so many people you don't know, it's encouraging you to -- >> are you excited about burning calories? >> yeah, yeah. more excited about eating afterwards. >> reporter: all the registration funds raised

. a small memorial is there for the san jose rest denied 22- year-old rory park petty ford. police have one person this custody. here's his picture. 26-year-old jonathan wilbanks was arrested on friday night. he was caught after a series of robberies, a police chase, shooting and carjacking attempt that left a man dead. here's a map that shows the path of this violent crime spree. wilbanks's alleged acome police got away but together they committed four robberies on friday at a little caesar's pizza on story road, gas station on east capital, a jack- in-the-box on curtner avenue and the spa on bird avenue. around 9:00 the pair tried to carjack 22-year-old rory in the seven eleven parking lot and shot him dead. police then spotted the car on highway 101 near interstate 280 and chased it through town. the suspects got out and opened fire on the officers. about >> about 9:00 i heard gunshots. >> saw the victim up in the front and in shock after finding out his father -- that his son had been shot in front of seven learn. >> reporter: police returned fire and hit wilbanks. one officer was treat

oakland, 53 mountain view. san jose low 50s. you are warmer this morning. and most locations gilroy, though, 47 degrees. so the 24-hour temperature change, looking at numbers mainly three to six degrees warmer from our coast around the bay. but we do have that cooler air mass with those temperatures dropping into the upper 40s near napa and santa rosa. about a half-mile visibility toward novato. a mile and three quarters santa rosa and napa looking at four-mile visibility, as well. throughout the day today we will look for the warmer afternoon with the numbers coming up to more spring-like readings. mid-70s downtown today and possible record warmth tomorrow through election day with more 80s around the bay than 70s. san benito county, southern monterey could reach 90 degrees by tomorrow. the warming begins today as the high pressure builds in from the eastern pacific. it will stay that way for the next 48 hours. by wednesday, though, a big drop. a midweek cool-down with numbers dropping at much at ten to fifteen degrees. then the rain comes overnight wednesday into thursday. light s

drops. 60 in fairfield. good morning fremont. it is 60 for you and concord. 61 san jose with 63 downtown. look at the coast. you were in the 40s a couple hours ago. 57 in santa cruz and going for a high of 80 today. and 24 hours ago we were much cooler. so starting out with 5 degrees of warming compared to yesterday at this time. in livermore, half moon bay, napa, we are on our way to temperatures today as much as 6 to 8 degree usa buff the average. so sunny skies and warmer. possible records tomorrow and tuesday with much cooler weather headed our way on wensz. that's our dry day. but then a big trough of low pressure is bringing cold air and the chance of showers. on thursday it could linger into friday. here is a look at what you can expect for the next 24 to 48 hours. we have widespread 80s in the warmest inland locations. 82 santa rosa and redwood city. and then by tomorrow and tuesday the numbers continue to rise. so records could be possible from oakland and san francisco near 80 and with that sea breeze coming back on tuesday for election day, it is just dropping a degree or two
